Nautical Thrifting Finds

Nautical Thrifting Finds

On my most recent trip to our local Goodwill, I found an amazing nautical blue and white striped tunic dress. A couple months ago, I found a navy sleeveless dress that also has a coastal style. It got me thinking, that when you thrift shop, you can search for things in a theme. Thrift stores have all kinds of items. You could search for lace pieces, chunky cable knit sweaters, or animal prints.

Whenever I go thrift shopping, I usually have a goal in mind. It's usually not a specific item like a “white lace top”, but more general like “anything that looks bohemian”. It could also be “I'm looking for bottoms (jeans, skirts and shorts)”. I think it's important to remember when you go thrift shopping, to not look for a specific item or brand; because you will inevitably get disappointed. There are just too many pieces to go through, and you never know what the store is going to have in stock. I think, so you don't get frustrated, just go in with a more general approach at what you're looking for or simply “see what they have”. Hopefully, you'll have as much success as I do, and you won't be so frustrated you'll never return again! Take a look at how I styled my two nautical dress finds.

Wanna B Dress

I love this dress because it can also double as a tunic. It actually might be a tunic; I'm just short so I can get away with it being a dress! I absolutely love the tan suede detail at the collar and sleeves. It's actually what attracted me to this piece. The wedges give this look a more “dressy brunch” vibe vs everyday casual, although it could work for both. Not a bad deal for $6.50! Side note: I found Silas’ entire outfit at the thrift store that day too! We are both wearing completely new to us pieces. His shirt says "fly guy", how sweet!

LL BEAN Dress

I had originally bought this dress to sell on my Poshmark (use code: NTNUO for $5) site. I picked up a bunch of pieces I thought would sell, were good quality, and I took them home with me. When I got home, I tried on all the pieces (always a bad idea)... If I absolutely loved it, I kept it; if it didn't fit me or I already had something similar I posted it on Poshmark. I could NOT justify selling this dress. It fit me so perfectly, had pockets, was in great condition, and was a gorgeous dress while being modest in style. I just instantly fell in love with it, and it made me feel like Kate Middleton. Keep anything that makes you feel like Kate Middleton!!

That's all for today loves. Hope you enjoyed my themed thrifty shopping tips. Do you like to theme shop? Have you found any good finds at the thrift store lately? Leave a comment below, I'd love to hear about it. <3 Amanda
