Yummy and Healthy on-the-go Snacking

I love a good snack food just as much as the next person. But I also love it when that snack food is healthy, and works for everyone in my family. Trail mix is a great snacking option that has a long shelf life, is easy to take on the go and has major health benefits. I found a brand that has changed the way I look at trail mix and the way I snack.

Power Up Snacks offer 8 different blends of trail mix. There are nuts, seeds, and dried fruits in all of the combos (sometimes multiples of each). They all taste unique and the different fruits bring out wonderful flavors with the nuts they've chosen. One of the blends has chocolate, which I would love to try (because I'm addicted to chocolate)! And a couple of the combos have coconut flakes in them, which is pretty cool.

They also offer three different sizes. There is a larger/bulk size for keeping in your pantry and munching on throughout the month. Then there is a miniature zip pouch that would be great to take on a trip or vacation. I personally like to put these in my diaper bag so Silas and I can both munch on them, and I don't have to worry about them spilling all over the place. Finally, they offer an individual pack, which would be perfect if you know you won't eat for a while and that would be your meal. I prefer these small packs after a workout, and Silas and I are still going around town before heading home for his nap.

I will say that these trail mixes are not on the cheap side. But when is healthy/good for you food ever cheap? These mixes are all natural, gluten-free and vegan friendly as well. Plus, they're full of different kinds of nuts. And those of us that do the grocery shopping, know how expensive nuts are in general.

But, I think they hold their value because they have such diversity in each bag, and the brand itself offers you multiple choices. If you can offer me a food that my husband, myself and my busy toddler can and will eat at any given point during the day and not get sick of it, you have my approval. Add in the fact that it's easy to travel with and not going to make a mess, and you've got a great product. I highly recommend these trail mixes for travelers, or moms who like to have quick healthy snacks on the go. Also, if you're a health nut and you love having healthy snack options - or you want to become a healthier snacker, these would be great for you too!

My personal favorite blend was the Goji Power. It has cranberries, coconut chips, walnuts, goji berries, pumpkin seeds and cashews. Such a unique mixture and so full of flavor! Which one stands out the best to you? Would love to hear your comments below.
