Where to Find Affordable Maternity Clothes

There are so many options for maternity fashion these days, and I love it! The only thing I'm not a fan of about maternity clothes are the prices.

*Standard Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I received product for review purposes, and also have affiliate links. The opinions are completely my own, based on my experience.*

It seems that anything associated with pregnancy or babies is marked up 200% from what it would normally be. Since I'm in my second pregnancy, I've learned some savvy ways to save in this department. I think it really helps keep any budget on track.

Thrift stores

Check out your thrift store’s maternity section. In my experience this is really hit or miss. But areas that have a lot of families would be your best chance.

Or you could always just hit up the women's section, and get whatever size you need. Dresses are PERFECT when shopping for pregnancy clothes this way. You usually only have to go up a size, or not at all if it's stretchy!

Facebook Groups

Local Facebook groups are a great place to find gently used pregnancy styles. People will often bundle their maternity clothes, and sell everything as a set.

That way, you are getting a whole wardrobe of maternity specific styles. I've also noticed that people will sell nicer items separately, but they are always cheaper than retail.

Make sure you are a part of some “Mom” Facebook groups too, as that is usually where they sell their gently used pregnancy clothes.

Online Consignment || ThredUp

One of my favorite places to find affordable, maternity fashion is ThredUp. They have a great selection of secondhand pregnancy styles and everything is in near perfect condition.

I like to shop here if I'm looking for something nicer, but not necessarily specific. You never know what they're going to have, and their stock changes regularly.

But you can count on it always being in style and a great deal! They also have clearance items, and sales for even more savings!

Such a bright, fun dress from Motherhood Maternity. Only $13, originally $48

H&M dress - looks like JCrew! Only $17, originally $48

Borrow from friends

This worked great for my first pregnancy. Everyone was really excited for me, and willing to share their maternity clothes.

Plus, if you don't show until a lot later in your pregnancy, this would work really well for you. You wouldn't have to waste money on 6-9 months of clothes you'll only wear a few times (unless you plan on having 3+ kids). This option is definitely the most cost effective, as it wouldn't cost you a dime.

Retail

I know I talk a lot about NOT shopping retail, or paying retail prices. But there is a way you can still get NEW clothes, and the latest fashions for cheap.

Check out the clearance racks at maternity stores like, Pea in the Pod and Motherhood. Old Navy, Target and H&M also have maternity sections.

Some of these stores offer descent pricing already, but if you can find items on clearance or during a sale, they will be even more discounted.

Sometimes they have deals/sales like 2 for 1, or spend $50 get $10 off. If you're going to buy new, get basic staple pieces that will last throughout your entire pregnancy so you'll be able to wear them more often.

I was able to score 2 tanks, 1 t-shirt and one pair of leggings from Motherhood Maternity when they had a "solar eclipse" sale. EVERYTHING I bought was only $5 each. Now that's a bargain!

Tee and leggings only $10 total during Motherhood Maternity sale!

Maternity clothing is great because of the built in ruching that adjusts to a growing bump but still flatters the figure! Plus, it's really comfy.

Got two of these tanks in navy & gray. Only $5 each!!

There are always more ways to save money too, if you really want new retail. Store loyalty programs & perks, online discount shops (Zulily, Amazon, Overstock) are just a few other ways you can save on maternity fashions.

The main thing to remember is, you can still look cute and fashionable, have a fully functional maternity wardrobe, and all with out breaking the bank. Hope you found these bits of information helpful and happy bump styling!
