Next Level Thrifting

Y’all know how much I love thrifting! I also really love online shopping. I recently teamed up with an awesome company that provides both! How cool is that?!

ThredUp combines my love of thrifting and online shopping! Their prices are already super affordable, because they are a consignment store. Then, they also like to offer additional savings (think up to 40%) throughout the year! They are also actively marking down their items to clearance, for even more savings!

They have the best selection of name brand and designer clothing I've ever seen, which can be really hard to find in traditional thrift stores and severely overpriced at local consignment shops. But, they also have your every day “mall brands” that are even more affordable than retail value.

I was impressed with the varied selection they have. I will say that I think they are a little more lenient than traditional consignment stores. Some of the pieces I've seen on their site are not anything that is current style, yet it's obvious they had accepted that item recently. So, take heart. It's not all mini skirts and cut out dresses. There is literally a style on there for everyone! They have clothes for women (maternity, plus, juniors) and also for kids (both genders).

They also make it super easy to return items that you aren't 100% satisfied with. Since you can't try these clothes on, I think this is a great service! You can return your items (in the right time frame) for a credit, free of charges and fees. But if you want to return it, and get a full refund there will be a shipping charge.

Furthermore, if you want to donate your items to ThredUP, you can certainly do so! They will pay you for your items, like a traditional consignment store. But, it's going to cost you.

If you want payment, there will be a $5 bag processing fee. If you are okay with not getting compensation, there will be no fee and they will donate the value to charity. If you've decided that you're going to clean out your closet with a ThredUP bag, and you just want a bag to send your pieces in, that will be another $5. Now, if you want your items returned to you that we're not accepted (which is what I wanted to do) it will be $16.

So, that will either be $10 for you to get paid and not get any of your items back that were not accepted. Or it will be $21 to send your clothes in a bag for compensation, and also have the items returned to you. As you can see, it starts to add up quickly. Although I understand that they are trying to recoup some of their losses from processing, shipping and man power, I'm not willing to spend that amount to get a clean out bag. And I also want my clothes back so I can resell them. If the money doesn't bother you, or you don't need compensation and your items returned to you, this would be a great way for you to clean out your closet and restock your spring and summer wardrobe.

I like to save money as often as I can, in any way that I can. So although the clean out bag may not be a good option for me, shopping at ThredUP is definitely a great option for me! Especially when they're having additional sales. Hope you guys will check them out and find something unique you’ll love! Here's the breakdown of savings I got from ThredUP:
