My Southern Bohemian Maternity Photography Session
I love being pregnant! It’s so cool to see the stages your body goes through to accommodate a new little life. Not everything about pregnancy is awesome, but it’s certainly a miracle from start to finish.
One of the best ways to document your body’s changes is through photography. I did more of the weekly bump updates with my first because I had more time. But I’d never miss the opportunity to take professional maternity pictures of this sweet milestone in my pregnancy. Especially since we are having a different gender, in a completely different season.
I’ve seen so much maternity photography inspiration on Instagram (my link) and Pinterest (my link) it got kind of overwhelming at times. But I knew at some point, I’d just have to decide and be content with my choice. It was actually pretty clear what I should do, once I figured out what season it would be during the time I would take my maternity photos (34-36 weeks). Since I am due the day before Thanksgiving, and 36 weeks was only in October, I knew a fall inspired session would be perfect. However, I also wanted a bohemian, romantic theme because I’m having a girl. The two styles ended up working perfectly together! I had a casual, everyday look and a dreamy, magical style; the best of both worlds when it comes to pregnancy!
Bohemian Everyday Style
This outfit is actually not maternity and something I wear on the regular. It’s so easy to switch up this style because I have several kimonos and tanks. Then all I have to do is find a coordinating bottom, and I’m ready for whatever the day may bring. The bralette is from American Eagle, leggings are Lauren Conrad and the kimono is Forever 21. Okay, and the tank top is from Target, which is the only piece that is actually maternity. I’m amazed at how much of my non-maternity wardrobe I can still wear during pregnancy. That’s one of the benefits of having a loose, flowy, hippie style I guess!
Southern Romantic Floral Style
I’ve literally been dreaming about this particular style for my maternity photo shoot ever since I found out I was pregnant again. I also made my flower crown! I’ve always wanted to have a custom-made flower crown for a photo shoot, and this was the most affordable option. I’m so glad I was able to wear it for Genevieve‘s maternity photo shoot. I love feeling like an ethereal mother nature. I plan on making one for her newborn photo shoot too. Oh, and if you're loving my dress, it's from PinkBlush. They have the best gowns for baby showers, maternity photos, and special occasions!
I am so happy with how our session turned out! The place where we shot was so charming and magical. Plus, our photographer captured such sweet, special moments of our little family that we will cherish forever. We are beyond excited to start this next chapter, and welcome our baby girl into the family!! Common' Thanksgiving, I'm ready for ya!
